Surrounds

Tasmania’s northeast has everything in terms of environment, climate, and adventure. Our favourite season is autumn when the light is just so.

Discover hidden coves and walking trails around the Bay of Fires, Humbug Point and St. Helens Point conservation areas. There are many locations for surfing, snorkeling, and swimming.

Drive the scenic route through Gould’s Country to visit waterfalls in the Blue Tier and St Columba Falls at Pyengana, then stop by the dairy for cheese or the Pub in the Paddock for a hearty old-school pub meal.

The Floating Sauna at Derby is a must-do experience. It is just over an hour’s drive from Swansong up into the hills past Pyengana. Relax your muscles in the heat then plunge into the cold lake for good health in a glorious setting. Bookings are essential.

St. Helens is a renowned angler’s paradise. Throw a line in at one of many land-based fishing spots or pre-book an outing on George’s Bay with a fishing guide.

For a peak adventure experience take an eco boat tour exploring the Bay of Fires out on the open sea.

St. Helens is a hub for outdoor pursuits with a thriving mountain bike scene. There are trails catering to every level of experience and you can cycle from the mountains all the way to the beach. Bike hire and shuttles are available. Enquire at one of the MTB specialist stores in St Helens.
